My Day

Thought I would update you all on what I’ve been up to, being all alone and all. πŸ™‚
Yesterday I took a good, long walk. I walked 37 blocks!! Jef said that is three miles! πŸ™‚ Hurray! I walked north first to 21st St. See, since Kamali & Tina bought the coffee shop I have been trying to stay away from Starbucks. You know, loyalty & all. πŸ˜‰ So I thought if I wanted a drink, I would see if King’s Coffee House was still open & maybe buy something there. Knowing I can spend like crazy given the chance, I left my debit card & ID at home. So I had about $6 in change in my pocket.
Yesterday was a lovely day for a walk. The air was cool, but not cold. I did wear a hooded sweater, but it wasn’t cold. Mostly I wore the sweater for the pockets! The day was nice, the houses & yards were pretty, and the walk was fun. When I got to 21st St., I saw a shop across the street called “Sonja’s clothes for living” or something like that. Since it was my name, spelled correctly, I had to stop in. πŸ™‚ The lady who owned the shop was Sonja. πŸ™‚ It was a cute shop, but out of my price range. πŸ™ When we get rich, I will have to go back. I’ll also have to be skinnier!
I walked up and around the block, then headed back to where King’s Coffee used to be. The windows had shades drawn, so I thought it might be closed. Upon reading the sign posted on the door, I found out the coffee shop was gone, but the people who had owned it were opening a mortgage co. There or something like that.
Next door to King’s Coffee was a new pizza shop, so I stopped in there. It was a small pizzeria run by a husband & wife team. πŸ™‚ I like shops like that. Upon asking if they delivered, I received a long story on why they could not (way too expensive in insurance). The lady was really nice and even gave me a sample of their foccacia. It was salty & definitely no where near as good as Jef’s. πŸ™‚
I walked on, turning south on Prospect St. I followed Prospect all the way to 8th, then turned toward home. I dropped off the menu & business card the pizza lady had given me, then turned toward 6th Ave.
I had decided to get a cider at Starbucks and maybe some of their gingerbread that I adore, and then get something at Taco Bell. After I got to Starbucks, though, I found I didn’t have enough money for all that. A caramel apple cider there costs $2.40! I thought it would be like a buck-fifty. The bread alone costs $1.70! They didn’t have the gingerbread, so I thought i would try the pumpkin loaf. When I got to the counter, I saw they had a pumpkin chai latte (sounds utterly disgusting to me) and a pumpkin cream muffin. I asked if they had any of the muffins yet & she said yes. I also asked when the gingerbread would come & she did not reply (probably didn’t hear me). So I bought my muffin and left. At Taco Bell I got nachos bellegrande. Then I came home.
It was relaxing! My evening was spent watching “Two Weeks Notice” which Jef didn’t want to see, and eating my dinner & veggin’. πŸ™‚
when Jef came home, we watched the news & had popcorn.
This morning, I woke up all on my own!!! No little kids running in and out, no one waking up at 4 a.m. … It was a beautiful thing. πŸ™‚
Today Jef & I got up and went to Applebee’s (thanks Mom & Dad). They actually serve breakfast on Saturday. So I had french toast and Jef had biscuits & gravy. Then we went to Borders ALONE. πŸ™‚ That was nice.
Now I am going to walk to a salon to have my hair done & my eyebrows waxed! wooo hooo!!! Catch ya on the flip side!!!

About Sonja

I am a wife, a mom, a homeschooler, a Christian, a scrapbooker, a cook, a baker, a reader, and a thinker. I am many other things, too, that are not so easily defined. Right now, God has been calling me to be faithful in what He has given me to do – to be the best wife, mom, homeschooler, friend, etc. that I can be. In essence, He has told me to β€œbloom where I’m planted”.
