Happy Birthday, Dad!!

Born December 24th, 1938
North state street

Among us he had or has the best of the following:
1. Better parents ~ they had all the experience of raising the older 7 before he came along, so they had more knowledge of how to bring Stewart up.
2. Better looks ~ I think all of us siblings would agree that Stewart is the better looking among the males in our family.
3. Better Education ~ Stewart applied himself well, attending various colleges that resulted in three degrees one being Doctor of Philosophy, the highest one can go in obtaining knowledge.
4. Better Vehicle ~ Although some may disagree with my evaluation as to it being better than the others, I think we would all agree that Stewarts Mercedes Benz stands among the best.
5. Best State ~ Again, many of us may disagree about Florida being the best State to live in, I think most of us would agree that Stewart lives in one of the best states, Florida.
6. There are other things about Stewart that could be classified as the best in the family, but I have to stop here to get the rest of what I need to say in this greeting.
The following are good things Stewart has at the age of 68:
1. A good wife (Two good wives)
2. Four good children
3. A good home
4. Lives in a good park
5. Comparatively good health
6. A good chance of outliving all of us since he is the youngest
Stewart, we are proud of you. You may not be the tallest physically, but you stand tall among us. We are glad to own you as OUR BROTHER, and we all pray that you may have many more wonderful birthdays throughout the years to come. We love you dearly and would not trade you for any in other families that we have ever seen.
Happy Birthday!

(I might add that Dad also has 10 wonderful grandchildren. 🙂 ~ Sonja)

Devotional
(from my Dad)
VERSE:
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. … So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. — Luke 2:1 and 4-5
THOUGHT:
Isn’t it amazing at how many of the inconveniences in our lives are used by the Lord to accomplish His will in us. Can you think of a worse time to have to go on a cross-country trip with their modes of travel than what Joseph and Mary faced. Difficult enough to travel in a car, but they went via walking and donkey. Then the trouble to find a room to rent and because of their social status the barn became their room for the night! Yet God turned it into the moment in which the angels found their tune, the Magi found their star and Satan met his match. How often God does that for us, invisible and visible to bring us closer to Him and show forth His glory and power in our lives!
PRAYER:
Father, I thank You that behind history, and especially behind the part of history where I live, Your hand is always working for my redemption and Your glory. Give me faith to ride out the difficult times, knowing that You will use them to be the incubator of Your next great work in and through me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Extra Christmas cards?
Hey all! Just found out about this and wanted to share it with everyone. If you have some extra cards they might be put to good use!! I think it’s a great way to show support for those men/women who literally put their lives on the line for us!
It’s not too late to send a Christmas card to a wounded soldier.
Won’t you please take a minute and send them a card (or two or twenty?). If they are mailed by this Thursday they could still arrive in time (or wait and send them “Thinking of You” cards in the New Year). Thanks!
