Morning musings

Maybe I should go back to that 100 Days of Blogging thing. I’m certainly over my quota for the past couple days!
You know what I’d really like? If Blogger was a little more like Xanga and you could put what you are listening to, reading or playing on your post. That would be cool. I’m listening to “Sugar Sugar” right now, and I am reading New Moon, the second book in this series about vampires.
So last night I started and finished Twilight. It was good, even though I knew Edward was a vampire because Morgan & Christina had already told me. 🙂 And Mel – she is really into these books, too.
The book was good – it kept my attention.
I forgot why I started to write this blog post. that’s sad. I’m only 33.
It’s October 1st. Usually around this time the fog/mist rolls in to Tacoma. I usually take a walk in the fog – I love it. I love summer here, but I love fall more. I do miss the trees changing color, but out here something interesting happens. Since all the trees don’t change color, the ones that do seem more vibrant and they make the others more vibrantly verdant. (been reading – see?!) Last fall we had a lot of yellows and oranges. There was a tree at the Garden, though, that was spectacularly red/orange. I’d never seen a tree so deep and bright – maybe due to the fact that it was surrounded by green and that made it stand out even more.
Okay – I need to actually get to work now. The natives are restless. :o)

news flash

well, okay – I have two tidbits of news, or, more correctly, one tidbit of news and one tidbit of opinion. 🙂
The news first – I’ve started reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (thanks Mel, Christina & Morgan). I’m only on chapter 3. I’ll keep you posted as to how I like it.
The opinion – I posted that blog earlier today and said that I should stop writing before I started ranting & just ragged on Obama. I got to thinking this evening and I said something to Jeff about that. He made the comment that the way I felt (not wanting to just be mean and tear down Obama) was the way a lot of Republicans felt and so they just don’t say anything. Meanwhile, the Democrats have this whole machine out there making stuff up, not caring who they hurt. Maybe Republicans should be stronger and say what they think. It is possible to say what you think without tearing someone down. Sometimes, though, it seems that the facts are so harsh that we feel like we are being mean when we state them. In reality, it is mean (or harmful) to not state the facts. Both sides of the issues need to be stated in order for us to make an informed decision.
I’ve said this before in regard to abortion. We talk about a woman’s choice, but when it comes down to it, a woman is rarely (if ever) told by a pro-choice person what will happen if she aborts the baby. Women are told their lives will be easier and everything will be okay if they have an abortion. They are not told about the pain involved, or about the guilt they may feel, or the phantom cries they might hear, or even about the danger to their bodies that can occur. How can a woman make an informed decision without knowing all these things?
How then can we, as American voters, make informed decisions about our leaders if we do not know all the facts? Republicans need to stand up and state the facts – even if they are only “as we know them” at least another facet will be being discussed.

Side note ~
Did you know that the moderator for the debate between Joe Biden & Sarah Palin is a staunch Obama supporter who stands to make a lot of money if he wins? I’ll be watching to see if she is unbiased in her treatment of the candidates.

Last day of September

Well, it has been over a month now since we lost the baby. Life has gotten back to normal – sort of.
I still haven’t ordered the kids’ curriculum, but am hoping to get that finalized today.
We’ve missed church the past couple weeks – once due to being sad and once due to our friends coming for a visit.
Mel & Nate and their kids came up from Cali for a visit this weekend. It was really nice to see them and visit. Our kids got along real well. Daniel was quite sad this morning because Keagan wouldn’t be coming over to play. 🙁
We also got to reconnect with a friend who lives in Tacoma, but we haven’t seen in a few years. He lives by our church and may come and visit it! 🙂 There’s a funny story there, but I don’t think it would translate well to the world wide web, so I’ll leave it out.
Today we are doing school and housework. I have been getting on the Wii Fit more often. Now I actually need to exercise with it! It said I gained 2 pounds over the weekend. 🙁 It was all the eating out!! But I think we’re tired of eating out now. 🙂 So we’ll be saving money and getting slimmer.
Jeff & I are kind of bummed – Obama has been up (like 8 points) in the polls recently. While we know that “the heart of the king is in the hand of the Lord”, we still really don’t want Obama for President. There are a myriad of reasons – he’s unqualified, he lies, he kills babies, and he won’t keep us safe. There are more reasons behind each of those reasons, but I don’t feel like going into those right now. However, I don’t understand how so many Americans can be so wishy-washy to not know who they are going to vote for!! Seriously – it’s pretty simple. You either want someone who believes life is valuable (in more ways than one) or you want someone who believes that only certain peoples’ lives are valuable and others are expendable “for the greater good”.
I’m going to start ranting and ripping on Obama if I don’t stop here, so I am going to stop. Hope you all have a be-ooootiful day.

iVillage weighs in

This morning I saw a free offer on slick deals and I clicked on it. iVillage was offering a free razor. After filling out the form, I was taken to the iVillage homepage. One of their little boxes asked who I thought won the debate on Friday night. After hearing that Obama was up in the polls again, I thought I would check it out. See what the general public thinks and all.
Disappointment over the naivete of people! I don’t know how someone could watch that debate and think Obama came out ahead. Even Combs (a FOX News commentator) had to say the outcome was a tie – Obama did not wow anyone in the news realm, even his staunch supporters.
Someone on iVillage said Obama came out stronger on the economy, which could explain why he is up in the polls now, but when asked by Leher, Mr. Obama said he’d add programs, not cut them! We’re overextended as it is, how could adding programs be better?!
The debate was good. McCain talks like a president and the things he says make me feel safer.
Why is it that all of Sarah Palin’s life is on the front page when nothing Obama or Biden have done is being talked about? Biden has been in the Senate for most of his career (he became a senator at 26, I think) and hasn’t managed to live within his means this whole time. He has a housing allowance, a car, and great medical insurance. Yet he has been unable to give any money away due to being in debt. Is this the kind of person we want supporting our President? And as for Obama, he is supported by Bill Ayers. Ayers hosted Obama’s first fundraiser. You can find pictures of Ayers standing on the American flag. Other issues may seem more important, but when you look at Obama’s life, you see he really doesn’t like America. Having anything to do with Ayers speaks volumes. Listen to Mr. Obama’s wife and you’ll see he doesn’t like America. Obama practically said we brought on 9-11 because we weren’t a nice enough country.
Anyways, I’ll quit ranting. I just get frustrated when people only see what they want to see and overlook important things – like loving America, keeping babies alive and how you spend money.

American Obama vs. Kenyan Obama

This is the house that Mr & Mrs. Obama share. They paid $1,000,000+ for this house. The Obamas make $4,000,000/year between the two of them.

This is where George Obama lives. He makes $12 a year and wants to be a mechanic. You can go to Dinesh D’Souza’s website and donate money to help George Obama.

Matthew 25:40

The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

While getting settled for the night, Jeff & I were listening to an older (couple days ago) Michael Medved show. Medved had Dinesh D’souza, a Christian writer & speaker, on to talk about Obama and a few other things.

Mr. D’Souza is raising money for Mr. Obama’s brother, George, who lives in Kenya. George lives on about $12 a year (!). He is studying to become a mechanic. Barak Obama has seen George twice – once when George was five, and once in 2006 when Barak stopped in Narobi on a political tour of East Africa. Referring to their second meeting, Obama’s brother said, “It was very brief, we spoke for just a few minutes. It was like meeting a complete stranger.” (see full article here)

When Barak Obama was talking to Rick Warren from Saddleback Church, he said the following (emphasis mine):

“I think America’s greatest moral failure in my lifetime has been that we still don’t abide by that basic precept in Matthew that whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me, and that notion of — that basic principle applies to poverty. It applies to racism and sexism. It applies to, you know, not having — not thinking about providing ladders of opportunity for people to get into the middle class. There’s a pervasive sense, I think, that this country, as wealthy and powerful as we are, still don’t spend enough time thinking about the least of us.”

Okay – call me crazy, but isn’t his own brother one of the “least of these”???

The man does not care about anyone other than himself! First he leaves babies out in the cold (literally) to die and now he doesn’t even support his own brother! Dinesh D’Souza’s campaign to raise money for George Obama is known to the Obama Campaign. To my surprise, the Obama Campaign has not tried to rectify the situation at all. They would rather pretend it (or he) doesn’t exist. Kinda like those babies …

So I am listening to the Glenn Beck Show this morning (which usually just grates on my nerves, but today was actually funny) because it is what we wake up to on KTTH 770. Mr. Beck actually made me laugh this morning!
There have been some pretty major goof-ups by the Obama campaign; most of them made by Joe Biden. The first goof-up (in my opinion) was the
ad the Obama campaign made that criticized McCain for being “out of touch” and old because he doesn’t use the computer or the Internet. In case you didn’t know, John McCain spent 5.5 years as a POW in N. Vietnam. The Obama campaign must know this, as it has been stated & talked about for some time now. In spite of this knowledge, though, they still produced the ad (See Hemmer on FOX News interview an Obama aide on this topic). McCain is not an imbecile – he CAN’T use the computer!!! He is physically unable to use it do to the extent of his injuries acquired in POW camp. So go ahead, Mr. Obama, pick on the disabled guy (btw, although McCain hasn’t responded in kind to the ad[which I don’t think he *needs* to even grant them the courtesy of a response], a 527 group has. You can see their ad here.).
Anyways, the funny thing this morning was Beck was listing silly things Biden has said (and he had sound bites for all these). Biden was talking to Katie Couric and she asked him why the Obama Campaign had run that ad attacking McCain for being “out of touch” and unable to us a computer. Biden said he was sorry about that and they should have never run it and he didn’t approve of the ad, and Obama — and here he stopped himself, because every ad that is run has to have “This is Barak Obama and I approve this message.” on it!!!
That was pretty funny.
Even funnier, though, was how Biden (who has been in the Senate how long? since 1972, in case you didn’t know) was at a rally where he saw Senator Chuck Graham and asked him to stand up! Chuck Graham is in a wheelchair because he’s a paraplegic … something the obviously self-involved Biden didn’t notice in all his years of service in the Senate.
Another time, Biden told Katie Couric that
President Roosevelt got on TV and reassured the people in 1929 that things would be okay when the stock market crashed. I figure ya’ll can figure out what all is wrong with that statement. 🙂
Gotta go make breakfast. Hopefully there will be more funny things today. I have a serious blog to post, another follow-up on the Infants Born Alive Act … but I’d rather be silly just now.

follow up

follow up on the Obama ad –
Apparently Obama says McCain lied in the ad I posted previously. However, McCain only approved the message, he didn’t write it. AND, the ad speaks the truth! Go read this article on Hot Air. You’ll see Obama’s response vs. reality.

Snapple fact #22

Found this one interesting in light of Mrs. Palin being our nominee for VP ~

“Alaska has the highest percentage of people that walk to work.”

Would’ve thought OR had the foothold on that one.

Also, found out today that my friend’s (Barb) friend’s husband (a homeschooling dad) made the “Mr. Obama” video!! how cool is that?!
