A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner, the people were in and out of the cold. The little boy was so cold that he wasn’t trying to sell many papers. He walked up to a policeman and said,’Mister, you wouldn’t happen to know where a poor boy could find a warm place to sleep tonight would you? You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the alley and it’s awful cold in there for tonight. Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay.’
The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, ‘You go down the street to that big white house and you knock on the door. When they come out the door you just say John 3:16, and they will let you in.’
So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the door, and a lady answered. He looked up and said,’John 3:16.’ The lady said, ‘Come on in, Son.’
She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom rocker in front of a great big old fireplace, and she wen toff. The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself:John 3:16 … I don’t understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm. Later she came back and asked him ‘Are you hungry?’
He said, ‘Well, just a little. I haven’t eaten in a couple of days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food,’
The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn’t eat any more. Then he thought to himself: John 3:16 … Boy, I sure don’t understand it but it sure makes a hungry boy full.
She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for awhile. As he soaked, he thought to himself: John 3:16 … I sure don’t understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy clean. You know, I’ve not had a bath, a real bath, in my whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out.T
he lady came in and got him. She took him to a room, tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers up around his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the window at the snow coming down on that cold night,he thought to himself: John 3:16 … I don’t understand it bu tit sure makes a tired boy rested.
The next morning the lady came back up and took him down again to that same big table full of food.
After he ate, she took him back to that same big old split bottom rocker in front of the fireplace and picked up a big old Bible. She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face. ‘Do you understand John 3:16?’ she asked gently.
He replied, ‘No, Ma’am, I don’t. The first time I ever heard it was last night when the policeman told me to use it.’
She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain to him about Jesus. Right there, in front of that big old fireplace, he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there and thought: John 3:16 … don’t understand it, but it sure makes a lost boy feel safe.
You know, I have to confess I don’t understand it either, how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don’t understand the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don’t understand the intense love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end. I don’t understand it, but it sure does make life worth living.
John 3:16 ~ For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

weird morning
We woke up at 6:10 this morning because Jeff got a phone call.
I’m sick. On top of being nauseous half the time I have a cold. It is no fun. Nighttime is especially hard because my cough gets worse when I lay down.
Going to do school with the boys now.
Mom was our savior today – she is out hunting for Christmas lights for our tree!!!!

Baby ticker
If you come here every so often, you will get to see how much the baby is growing. I put a baby ticker up at the top of the page, and it keeps track of how far along I (& baby) am (are). 🙂
So, come here more often to see how we’re doing!! 🙂
By the way, I’m “thinking pink” and trying to get everyone else around me to, too. I know the baby is already whatever the baby will be, but I’ll keep thinking pink until February, when I can have an ultrasound to see. 😉

News
Well, I guess it is about time to post this.
We’re going to have a baby!!!
We’ve known for a little while, but I didn’t want to tell everyone too soon. Last time I was pregnant, I told everyone, and then the baby died. 🙁 So this time I was waiting.
On Monday, I had a dating ultrasound. I was told I wouldn’t be able to see much – the baby would probably just be a dot on the screen. But I saw the baby’s heartbeat, and I saw him/her (I have to say “her”, too, you know) move around! 🙂 God is good. That was exactly the reassurance I needed. The baby is ten weeks and three days old now.
Dr. Sarner, who did the ultrasound, gave me these pictures. You can see the baby’s head and body. 🙂

Here you can see the little arm buds!! We call the baby Buddy, then Harry, then Tony to denote what stage they are in. First they grown arms and legs, then they are covered with hair, and then their fingernails & toenails grow!

When I grow up …
… I want to be like this lady. She knows Who she believes in and is persuaded that He is able to keep her. 🙂 If the player doesn’t work – please go here – http://clipsyndicate.com/publish/video/463771/elderly_woman_talks_man_out_of_mugging – to see the video.

I was right!!!
Now I have the data to prove it!! 🙂
I’ve said for a long time that what a woman eats while she is pregnant is what the kid will like as they grow. My proof was my three boys –
With Jonathan, I couldn’t eat much of anything. But I craved crispy, crunchy things – like crispy chicken and salads – lots of salads and veggies. To this day, Jonathan likes veggies & fruit over other things.
With Daniel, I ate a lot of omelets and cheese … and bread. Daniel loves cheese, eggs of any kind and pretty much any bread.
With Nicholas, I craved steak. I kind of craved it with Daniel, too, but not as much. I ate a lot of meats when I was pregnant with Nicholas. He is my meat eater. He will pick off all the meat from his pizza and leave the rest!!
An UK writer, Jonathan Leake, has written an article stating that my ideas were right. You can read it here – http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/health/article2983849.ece – if you don’t believe me. 🙂

The coffee shop is OPEN!!!!
Today was SO cool! We spent our afternooon & evening at Freighthouse Square (or, The Square) helping & observing the goings on at the new shop. There seemed to be a ton of people there. There was an event at the Convention Center, so apparently everyone parked across the street and rode the shuttle there. They also came to eat and shop at The Square. TostaCaffe’ did well on their very first day!
There is a guy who blogs about Tacoma and he took pictrues and posted his opinion of the shop. You can read about it here.
By the way – the sign that says “Welcome to TostaCaffe'” — I made that! 😀
We’re so excited!!! Yay God!!!! Yay TostaCaffe’!!!!
~ Don’t forget to check out all the pictures in the coffee shop album ~
